Alina Wilson receives the SREB Dissertation Award!
Alina Wilson, a Ph.D student in Electrical Engineering, was selected as a Recipient of the Southern Regional Education Board Dissertation Award. Since joining our department under the supervision of Dr. Goutam Koley, Alina has made rapid progress in her research showing all the signs of a mature researcher. Her research focus is in synthesis and characterization of III-V Nitride based nanowires and thin films. These have applications in various fields of electronics, including chemical- and bio-sensing.
This award is no surprise to those that know Alina. Her accomplishments have been recognized since she joined the department. She has published two peer reviewed articles and received NASA fellowships for two consecutive years. She has been a Graduate Teaching Assistant in various courses showing her communication skills in explaining sophisticated topics to undergraduate students. This further displays that Alina has what it takes to become a productive faculty member, which is a main focus of this award.
