Congratulations to Andrew Wunderlich for winning IEEE Scholarship!
We would like to congratulate our very own Electrical Engineering undergraduate Andrew S. Wunderlich as the recipient of a scholarship from the IEEE Power and Energy Society Scholarship Plus Initiative. The scholarship recognizes students in their sophomore year who demonstrate scholastic achievement. The scholarship is renewable for up to three years, under the condition that a career experience, or internship, is required each year. The scholarship awards $2,000 for the first two years and $3,000 for the last year for a total of $7,000.
Andrew applied for the scholarship in May of this year and was awarded in early October. Academic achievement, alignment of interests with the power and energy field, personal strengths and strength of academic programs supplemented his application.
Andrew has been heavily influenced by his father, who holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and works for one of the largest defense contractors in the world, Northrop Grumman. His father’s advice and guidance assisted Andrew in selecting the University of South Carolina to call his academic home. Andrew is grateful to have received this scholarship, and is well aware of the opportunities available to him now that he is a PES Scholar. Among financial relief, the scholarship provides further motivation for Andrew to practice diligence in his academic pursuits.
